We meet you outside to collect your dog(s) in addition to their things. When your dog(s) arrive, our own dogs along with any staycation guests, are put into another room. This gives your dog(s) a chance to explore and familiarize themselves with the new space, smells, etc. with the comfort to do so at their own pace. We then repeat this and do the same outside in our fully fenced backyard. Once your dog(s) are settled in we begin with slow introductions with our own dogs, one at a time. We know this experience can be overwhelming for the dog(s) in itself, so we do everything that we can to make it as stress-free as possible. Both my husband and I have lots of experience with canine body language and behaviour.
Your dog(s) will have access to our main living area (open-concept kitchen, dining area, and living room), the hallways, our bedroom (under supervision, otherwise the door is closed), the sunroom, and the backyard. Safety always comes first, from one paranoid dog mom to another - we've got you covered! Our yard is fully fenced with a padlock on the gate. Dog(s) are never left unattended or unsupervised outside or even inside! Our basement is blocked off with a baby gate, all room doors are shut, and we have our front entry blocked off with an extra large baby gate.
We promise to always be honest and to let you know if your dog is not enjoying themselves. Not all dogs do well away from home and that's okay! So what happens if your dog is not thriving away from home? WE will do everything we can to make sure that their stay is enjoyable as possible. We do have a large home with the option of having dogs kept in separate rooms should that be necessary.
You are always free to bring your own crates or kennels,; however, if you wish to leave them at home, we have plenty here if this is something you desire for your pet. :)
All of our staycation guests are given the freedom to roam around and go play, sleep, and chill wherever they like within reason of course! We love spending time with your dog(s) and loving up on them with playtime, snuggles, and belly rubs!
If you would like for us to add in some structured crate-time, please let us know. Otherwise, we will leave that choice to your dog.
You are required to bring food for your dog(s) during their stay with us. Please always bring extra food so we do not run out.
All dogs need to have a well-fitting harness of collar along with a non-retractable leash. Please be sure to pack all medications Including flea and tick and heartworm) and include any specific instructions for those meds. You may also want o pack your dog's comb or brush as different coats have different requirements.
If your dog is to have an extended staycation, they may want to have their own bed or blanket. There is no need to bring any toys or treats. We've got you covered!
